Light and radiation

Under the light to understand the electromagnetic radiation, causing a human eye visual sensation. In this case we are talking about radiation in the range from 360 to 830 nm, occupying a tiny portion of all we know the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation.

Luminous flux *

Unit: lumens * [lm]. Luminous flux F is called the whole power of the radiation light source, measured by the light feeling of human eyes. Normal incandescent lamp of 100 W creates luminous flux, equal to about 1300 lumens. Compact fluorescent lamp, fluorescent power of 26 W creates luminous flux, equal to about 1600 lumens. Luminous flux of the Sun is 3,8 × 1028 lm.

Intensity I

Unit: candela ** [cd]. The light source emits a luminous flux F in different directions with different intensities. The intensity of the emitted light in a particular direction is called luminous intensity I.

Illuminance E

Unit: *** lux [lx]. Illuminance E is the ratio of the incident light beam to the illuminated area. Illuminance is 1 lux when luminous flux of 1 lumen uniformly distributed over an area 1m2

Brightness L

Unit: candela per square meter [cd / m 2]. The brightness of the light L of the light source or illuminated area is the main factor for the level of the light sensation of human eyes.

Color temperature

Unit: Kelvin **** [K]. Color temperature light source is determined by comparing the so-called "black body" and displayed "a line of black body". If the temperature of the black body, the greater the blue component in the spectrum and the red component decreases. Incandescent lamp with a warm white light is, for example, the color temperature of 2700 K, and the fluorescent lamp with a chromaticity of daylight - 6000 K.

Common color light

There are three main color of light: warm-white <3300 K, neutral-white 3300 - 5000 K, white daylight> 5000 K.

Rendition

Depending on the site of the lamps and they perform tasks of artificial light should enable the most desired color perception (as in natural daylight). This possibility is determined by the characteristics of color of the light source, which are expressed with varying degrees of "crude color" Ra. Coefficient color reflects the level of compliance with the natural color of the body with the visible color of the body in its coverage of the reference source of light. To determine the value of fixed Ra shift color with the help of the eight specified in DIN 6169 standard reference colors, which is observed in the direction of the light test light source for these reference colors. The smaller the deviation of color of the test lamp light from the reference color, the better the color reproduction characteristics of the lamp. Light source with a color rendering index of Ra = 100 emits light that best reflects all colors as the light of the reference light. The lower the value of Ra, the worse the color of the illuminated object.

* One lumen is equal to the luminous flux emitted by a point isotropic source, c intensity equal to one candela in the solid angle value of one steradian (1 lm = 1 cd × sr). Full luminous flux generated by an isotropic source emitting one candela is equal to 4π lumens.

** Candela (symbol: cd, cd; from lat. Candela - candle) is equal to the strength of the light emitted in a given direction source of monochromatic radiation of frequency of 540.1012 Hz, the energy intensity of which in this direction is (1 / 683) W / sr .

*** Suite (symbol: lx, lx) - unit of measurement of illumination, equal to the illumination surface area of 1 m ² in the light flux incident on her radiation, equal to 1 lm

**** Kelvin (symbol: K) - a unit of measurement of temperature, one kelvin is equal to 1 / 273, 16 thermodynamic temperature of the triple point of water. The beginning of the scale (0 K) coincides with the absolute zero. Conversion to degrees centigrade. C = K - 273,15
